The importance of Natural Baby Products
More and more studies are being released about the harmfulness of ingredients found in personal care products. Natural Baby Products is the way forward!
I created Eden to Eden when my MS started to make life as a teacher impossible.
I first started with a 100% Afro-Caribbean Hair Care range.
After a few years and knowing how much chemicals damage the hair and skin, I went into a shop and looked at the ingredients of the baby products.
I was furious!
I thought the manufacturers would have more care about what they put in baby products.
Obviously, I was wrong
It’s all about the money, money, money (cue Jessie J…) and not about health and safety.
That is why Eden to Eden’s Perfectly Pure range was created.
It was 2 years before I had my boys. However, I knew that whenever I did have children, I would make them natural skin products.
I then thought that this would be a great direction for Eden to Eden to go in because I was going to be doing it anyway.
The reason why using natural products is important.
A baby’s skin is very sensitive and 3 times thinner than our skin and the surface area of their skin is 3-5 times bigger than ours.
Because of that, EVERYTHING we put on our babies skin has the potential to be absorbed into their bodies.
Therefore, it’s vital to carefully protect our darlings skin by choosing Natural Products for bathtime and skin care products.
I have to admit, I LOVE saving money… finding a bargain makes me really happy.
Many commercial baby products can be bought as cheap as £1! This sounds so good.
However, I have to explain that the amount of chemicals manufacturers use to create the product is really cheap to buy and use. A HUGE NO NO!
Even though a baby product is cheap, it means that it is most likely not Natural (unless it’s in the sale).
Commercial products sadly, commonly contain Parabens, Petroleum by-products, Perfumes/fragrances and synthetic material among other things.
Let me tell you about PERFUMES; the word perfume allows each product to have up to 4000 ingredients without declaring each one. Don’t get me wrong, they may smell amazing, all products do, but the synthetic properties that make the smell are up to 4000.
Do NOT be fooled by Smart Advertising!
Companies know that children love bright colours, lots of lather and exciting smells. They, therefore, use artificial means to accomplish these goals and make them attractive to children.
That way, children will ask their parents for the products.
Johnson & Johnson claimed, through their advertisements that their Bedtime Bath and Bedtime Lotion was clinically proven to help babies sleep better.
What parent wouldn’t want that… It became a huge seller with hopeful, sleep-deprived parents.
But to their dismay, the product didn’t work and many angry parents claimed that Johnson & Johnson used deceptive advertising to market these products.
It turns out that there were NO scientifically reliable studies that support this claim.
They claimed that their AVEENO baby wash products were all natural, when in fact, they contain the synthetic product: dioxane. Dioxane is a harmful chemical that can cause cancer in adults
Johnson & Johnson were petitioned by more than 40 organisations to change their formula. They then led the public to believe it had changed the ingredients.
However, when tests were completed on samples sold in multiple countries, it showed that the toxic ingredients were removed in some countries.
Though, they were still present in many other countries.
Once they were caught, Johnson & Johnson were quick to issue a statement that they would be reformulating their product worldwide in the near future.
Many parents believe that Aveeno is 100% Natural and will use it thinking that they are doing the right thing for their babies.

Many of the general public, unfortunately, is uneducated when it comes to what actually goes into these popular brands. They trust their advertising and buy their products. This is why a lot of parents don’t feel the need to pay the extra money and get quality, all Natural products.
Another reason is financing, Natural products cost a lot more to manufacture, so therefore, cost more than the large commercial products.
One thing to remember, is Natural products DO NOT contain any parabens, perfumes/fragrances, phthalates, SLS, petroleum. NO NASTIES!!!
